As I had previously indicated on «mblazquez.es», after several months of development, I have finally been able to showcase for a few minutes one of the most interesting research and development projects I have been working on. The web search engine is called «WauSearch» and serves as a testing and experimentation platform for future information search concepts.

WauSearch offers the opportunity to study user query mechanisms and their experience in order to refine and develop new applications for search engines. Indeed, WauSearch is a demonstration platform for novel concepts and utilities designed to enhance the user’s interaction with the search environment.

WauSearch originated from reflections on how users employ search engines, particularly in light of the needs that current search engines fail to address. It is evident that today’s search engines provide adequate results and simple-to-use interfaces, yet their evolution has been sidelined in favor of emerging technological trends. WauSearch is a reaffirmation of the central role of information retrieval and of the critical contribution made by information professionals—especially Documentalists—in this domain.

Although not all capabilities of the WauSearch engine could be detailed in today’s presentation on December 9, 2014, several benefits and features for users and research are highlighted.

The official launch of WauSearch will take place on December 15, 2014, featuring a more comprehensive explanation of the search engine, marking its activation and making it freely available to all users. Until then, users must wait a few more days before definitively using WauSearch. The countdown has already begun.
